2024 Odds & Ends - Rare & Discontinued Scents
Odds and ends from collections and discontinued scents like to accumulate in the corners of the Fumery as way is made for new things. I collected all of the mislaid artifacts and set-asides I could find for one big sale (and also because it's getting crowded in here).
This is a list of all the scents, what they're from, and what I could find or remember about them. Ones marked with an asterisk * are the sole survivors and only a single bottle remains.
Poppy* - This was one of my earliest Fumery scents and comes in the first square clear glass bottles I used. This bottle is probably circa 2018. Notes are violets, vetiver, and house dragonsblood.
One Sunday Morning* - From the very fun Scary Scents to Wear in the Dark collection. Probably a first edition because it's also in a clear square bottle. Benzoin, myrrh, frankincense, antique lace, mahogany and blue musk.
Cemetery Soup* - Another from Scary Scents to Wear in the Dark, this is one of my favorite earthy/garden, loam-forward scents that I've made. Oakmoss, earth, clary sage, cucumber, and just a whiff of Nana's perfume.
The Hook - The last survivor of Scary Scents, The Hook has wonderful, rich and interesting profile: Myrrh, redwood, Spanish ivy, mandarin orange, bosc pear, magnolia, ylang ylang.
Otto of Roses - This was from Bordello, my slutty Victorian brothel collection. This was also one of the first times I delved deep into traditional perfumery, and incidentally it was one of the most successful sets I've ever done. This is a pure and expensive rose accord for $16. If you sleep on it, you're a fool. A FOOL.
The Commandant* - Also from Bordello, I can't remember the exact scent profile (it would be deep in my notes) but it was meant to invoke the part of the brothel that entertains before the entertainment; cognac, tobacco, leather, woods. I do remember that people went crazy for it, and that's probably why there is only one bottle in existence.
Borderlines - This was made for a fundraiser for RAICES a few years ago. I had a few bottles left over, apparently! Frankincense, sage, and elderflower.
White Wolf - Originally from my Witcher collection. So popular it's had three names. It's on this list under two (Lothario). Russian leather, spruce accord, black pepper, a heady blend of European musks, vetiver.
Swallow* - The last of the Witcher collection, this one was for Cyri! Warm wool, snowy forest, campfire, spruce tips, white musk accord.
Lilac & Gooseberries - Okay, not the LAST last from the Witcher collection. This L&G turned out to be one of the most popular things I've made! It's alive and well over at Hero Scent but I had some left on the shelf so you can get it for a few bucks cheaper. Lucky you!
Eros* - This was my contribution to the Eros & Thanatos collaboration with my dear friend Caroline Blicq for The Poisoners Guild. Rooibos red tea, Madagascar vanilla, romantic spices. Honestly, if you're reading this and it's still available, you should do it.
Witch Wife - Beloved, and one of my first 8 Fumery scents! This gal is doing great over at Hero Scent, but I had these left when I made the switch, so you get them for a few dollars less! Teak, sandalwood, forget-me-nots
Black Mass - I have an evolved version of this on Hero Scent, but I don't make it like this anymore. These are the last bottles of the original favorite. Frankincense, myrrh, red wine.
Absinthe - I've smelled a lot of absinthe inspired perfumes. This is the best one. I'm sorry. That's just the way it is. Star anise, wormwood, herbs and warm sugar.
Black Goat - The best. The GOAT, if you will. The incense is still here at the Fumery. The fragrance is over at Hero Scent. But this label is going extinct, so you might as well grab one for a few dollars off!
Lothario - Every version of this has been for sexy badboys and that's still true. Whatever you call it, it's masculine mischief at its smoldering finest. Russian leather, spruce accord, black pepper, a heady blend of European musks, vetiver.
Esoteric - Designed by Sarah Strange and beloved by all who huff it, it now has a perfect and very funny identity, but I had a bunch left on the shelf when I made the switch because I'm impulsive and not good at inventory. Patchouli, Nag Champa, cannabis, clove.
TDSAV - I have come to terms with the fact that there is no escaping this fruit of my madness. I make it. I sell out. I swear I'm never making it again. I make it again. I sell out. How could there be any left? Clearly it is making itself, and I am too terrified to resist. Bright and fruity floral nightmares. What have I done.
Hand of Glory* - This is one of the warmest, most luxurious scents I have ever made, and I think the branding kept it from being more popular than it should have been. One of you is going to find out.
Pecan Whisky* - An Appalachia-inspired take on Hungary Water, and one of my earlier delves into classic perfumery. Revel Stoke pecan whisky, herbal infusion (rosemary, thyme, lavender), vanilla, vetiver, tobacco accord.
